A Crab
This post is dedicated to Sacha (hi love!) because she told me I should do this. Thank you for always encouraging me and know that whatever happens here is legally all your fault. *
I made this smoking crab for Hannah who is a Cancer, allergic to shellfish, and a whole lot of wonderful. After finishing I sat on the floor painting lobsters, anchovies, and sea urchins for several hours and somehow I still feel the urge to do giant kelp / maybe some clams.
Painting tide pool creatures is inherently silly and small but I know how important the silly, small things are to me. We all need more of this sentiment because just like a crustacean smoking a cigarette, it’s ridiculous out there:
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things:
Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax—of cabbages—and kings—
And why the sea is boiling hot—and whether pigs have wings."
The Walrus and the Carpenter by Lewis Carroll
